I was browsing through the Interwebs and was hooked on the trends for 2019. So I decided to do a blog post on top trends that you can expect to see during the year of 2019. I’ve always loved to browse the couture photos of different fashion houses. You can easily find pics from different fashion magazine’s websites, other fashion pages or from just plain Google image search. Usually my browsing is more scattered and I search for what I like.
Top colors for this year are rich browns and darker shades of toffee, mocha, moss, olive and sage green, golden yellow, burnt orange and red as well as other rich colors. These colors were well represented in the Hermès collection for the Resort 2019. Beiges, neutrals and pastel colors and monochromatic looks are still in style and you can never go wrong with them.
Textures and details
You can spot very different details and textures from the 2019 collections. Frills and ruffles, ruching and small pleating details, fringe, scarf prints, tie-dye, bows, glitz and shine are details and textures that you need to add to your style this year. Androgynous and feminine styles separately and mixed together were seen on the runways. Androgynous looks are going to be seen more and more this year. Suit looks and also 90’s vibes are still going strong. Puffy sleeves or ruffled, structured shoulders and feather details are also details to add into your wardrobe in 2019.
I saw very interesting fabrics in the 2019 collections. Almost like crochet, bleached denim, different shiny, metallic and holographic materials and also the “popcorn” fabric. Fine example was the 2019 Spring Couture collection from Armani Privé. I also saw few capes e.g. from Christian Dior, Chanel and Elie Saab. Last Fall the oversized trend started and were seen in the pop culture and on celebrities. The trend was popular on e.g. Lady Gaga, Rihanna, The Kardashians. Several fashion magazines and fashion bloggers and YouTube creators made videos and articles on the trend. And how can we forget the Kanye West’s music video “I Love It”. This trend isn’t going anywhere just yet, so don’t throw your oversized blazers, shirts and jackets away.
Quality over quantity
Quality over quantity is the key or that’s what I think that more and more people are starting to prefer. Consciousness, sustainable fashion, eco-friendly options are already something that some people are requesting from clothing brands. People have started to think about who has made their clothes and how their clothes are made which is amazing. Maybe more minimal shopping is seen in the new year and maybe people start to really invest on quality pieces. Quality fabrics and clothing pieces that are made with natural fibers are the way to go. Those are more sustainable and will drape over the body better.
My style is more of a classic, affluent, elegant and sophisticated and business style or that’s what I would love to wear. 😉 One of the goals for this year is to evolve my personal style to be more chic and dress for success. Trends that I will be trying out are pleats, ruffles, fringes, natural fibers and quality pieces that will last for many years. Something that I would like to invest on are a power suit, leather bag, trench coat and boots. I will update you on the hunt and journey of my wardrobe and style.
The Spring 2019 collections from Christian Dior and Valentino were superb. Other mentionable collections were from Pre-Fall 2019 collections from Balmain and Chloé. All mentioned collections can be found from Vogue’s website.
